Retrospect DEsigned in Bavaria (MCBW)
Munich: The fact is that Germany as a design location stands for outstanding success on an international level, and design from Bavaria is an important economic factor and innovation driver. The strategic approach in industrial design promotes the ability of companies to deal with new challenges with agile and tailor-made processes.
These factors were exemplified by the DEsigned in Bavaria exhibition and the skills of VDID designers from 3 to 10 March 2018 in the USM Showroom Munich, Wittelsbacherplatz 1.
In political, social, real and virtual life, we are increasingly faced with the choice between alternative facts. What effects does this shift in reality have on design work and how do designers react to this development? How do they deal with their responsibility in the sense of the VDID Codex for Industrial Design?
Prof. Dr. phil. habil. spoke at the opening of DEsigned in Bavaria. Max Welch Guerra from the Bauhaus University Weimar on 5 March in the exhibition.
In his keynote speech, Prof. Dr. Max Welch Guerra examines whether and how political design was and is. Because: We can all act politically much more directly: with our work. If industrial designers face the real questions, then design should not only be understood as a form, but also as a transformation of structures and processes.
In cooperation with USM Munich and bayern design as part of the MCBW 2018. sponsored by: Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology

„Does a machine like this have to be pretty?“
Eine oft gestellte Frage an uns Industriedesigner.
Meist hat der Fragesteller sie für sich bereits beantwortet: „Nein, muss sie nicht. Sie soll ja funktionieren, da ist es egal wie sie aussieht."
Richtig: Sie muss funktionieren!
